With Winter well and truly here, how can we make the most of the heat and cosy up our homes?
Here are some ideas you can try for your home, your habits, and how the trends are spicing up this season.
Home Design Tips
A typical house over the years is bound to accumulate a number of gaps and leaks for air to slip through. As the weather cools down, check entry points for precious warm air to escape and seal them up.
You’re also going to want to invest in good insulation. Ideally, you’ll want to set it and forget it. A cheaper insulation job might cost you more in the long run if you have to keep replacing it.
One final home improvement is to simply swap out your cool daylight, LED bulbs for warmer tones that may add a little heat as well as bring some warmth into your winter days.
Winter Home Design Trends
You’d be surprised at how much a few more cosy rugs in the right places can make a difference. This means that more warmth is trapped in places where you need them the most. Your feet will also thank you.
Another way to get the most out of the cooling weather is to add more textures such as throws, cushions and pillows. Heavy curtains are also sure to keep warm air in the room for longer. Another upside is that these are trending this season!
There’s also a flower trend we are seeing everywhere right now. People are not displaying as many fresh flowers but dried bouquets. These are perfect for those who want the look and fragrance of flora, without the constant need to water them.
Lastly, swap out your current spring/summer colours for warm earthy tones. Wrap you up nice and snug and put on your big chunky slippers.
